Before installing Skype, it is important to make sure that your computer can support the minimum requirements as on the
Access Requirements page.
NOTE: Skype version 5.3 or higher for Mac or Skype version 5.5 or higher for Windows is required.
To install Skype on your computer, follow these steps below:
1. Visit Skype
Using your web browser, navigate to
www.skype.com and click on 'Get Skype' on the menu.
2. Choosing which edition of Skype to use
Now we need to select the right installer to use for your computer. Most of you would be running on Windows, so click on Windows in the menu that appears.
NOTE: For Mac / Linux users, use the options further down on the same list as shown above.
3. Download the Skype Installer
Once you have selected which edition of Skype to download, you'll be presented with an option (as above) to either get the "Free" version of Skype or use their premium version. Select the free option.
5. Running the Installer
Once you have chosen the free version of Skype, an download progress dialog will appear, asking for which options to use. Select 'Run'
6. Skype Installer - Welcome
After clicking on 'Run' you'll be presented with a dialog as above, asking you to confirm that you agree to Skype's terms and conditions. Click on the 'I agree - next' button as indicated above.
7. Skype Installer - Downloading
Now you'll see a download progress dialog as shown above. This means Skype is now downloading the actual application for you. Don't do anything as it is automatic.

After the download is completed, an different dialog will appear as above, indicating that Skype is now being installed on your computer.
9. Skype Installer - Getting Started
Once the installation has been completed, a new dialog will show, asking you to set up your own free account for use. Click on 'Get started now' as indicated above.

If you don't have an account, click 'Create a new account' as indicated above.

Enter your details for your new account in the form as shown in the screenshot above.
12. Skype - Adding RA Contacts
Now you have Skype installed and have an account with Skype! Next you'll need to add three contacts for the Relay Assistant. Click on the 'Add a contact' as indicated above and in the dialog that appears, enter NZVRS01 in the Skype Name field and click 'Add'.
Repeat the same for NZVRS02 and NZVRS03.
13. Skype - Making a call
Now you are ready to make calls! To make a call, select any one of the three VRS RA's contacts in your contacts list as shown in the screenshot above and choose 'Video Call' to begin your call.
